Organic Cleaning: Make Your Own Cleaning Products

Most houses have much more cleaning products than is needed. Advertisements make us believe that we need different cleaners for every object in the house and of course, every brand claims to be better than the other. In reality, it is all just marketing. We not only spend a lot of money, but unnecessarily fill our home with harmful and potentially hazardous toxins and chemicals. My suggestion is, make your own organic cleaning products. Homemade organic cleaning products are just as effective, very easy to make, cost you pennies and, most importantly, are safe.

A mixture of 1 gallon of hot water with ½ cup of white vinegar works wonders on the kitchen floors. The mixture is safe for linoleum, tile, hardwood, and pretty much every washable surface. You can also put the mixture in a spray bottle and clean your entire bathroom.

For cleaning kitchen cabinets you can make a mixture of ¼ cup lemon juice dissolved in 1 gallon of hot or very warm water. Lemon juice can easily remove grease from metal and wood.

You can use lemon juice to make your own dishwash liquid. All you need is ¼ cup of lemon juice and ¾ cup of warm water. Trust me, all of the other ingredients are not necessary.

You can make a toilet bowl cleaner by mixing ¼ cup of baking soda with 1 cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and then scrub it with brush.

To make a disinfectant spray you mix a ½ cup of borax with 1 gallon of very warm water.

To clean and polish wood floors or wood furniture, use natural citrus oil. It is relatively cheap. Buy it in bulk and it will last you a long time.

If you want to clean your oven without using chemicals, mix 1 tbsp of salt with 1 tbsp of baking soda and half a cup of hot water. Apply to the oven, heat it a little and wipe with a damp cloth.

To clean your windows use a mixture of 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.

All of these are quite simple and don’t require a degree in Chemistry. Then why don’t we get rid of toxins in our house?
