Organic Living: Cheap Homemade Facial Masks
If you don’t like to spend money for expensive organic cosmetics, but still like to look and feel good, try making your own. Trust me it is easy and you will be amazed with the results. You may never want to buy cream at the store again.
You can make all sorts of homemade facial masks at home and the great news is that they will not cost you much and will not take a lot of time to make.
One of the easiest masks which will work for all skin types is a yogurt mask. You need:
1 tablespoon of organic plain yogurt at room temperature. (whole, not low fat)
1 tablespoon of honey
Combine the ingredients, apply to face. Leave for 10-15 minutes. Wash with steaming washcloth. If you have oily skin, add a couple of drops of lemon or lime juice. If your skin is dry, use an extra spoon of honey.
If you have oily skin, I recommend Soothing Banana mask. You need:
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon of honey
Lemon juice
Mix honey and banana. Add a few drops of lemon juice. Apply to face for 10-15 minutes and rinse with a washcloth. And believe it or not, this is all you have to do.
A good mask for dry skin is Avocado/Honey mask. Mix 1/2 cup of fresh ripe avocado with ¼ of honey. Apply to skin; leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with a cool washcloth.
If you want to heal blemishes, make a raw egg yolk mask. Apply the raw yolk to your face for 25-30 minutes and rinse with cool water.
My favorite mask is the Cucumber/Yogurt mask. It is very refreshing and I just love the smell. Puree a sliced cucumber, mix with natural or organic plain non-fat yogurt and apply to face for 20 minutes. You may also cover your eyes with cool cucumber slices. After 20 minutes remove the cucumber slices and very gently wipe the mask off of your face using a damp washcloth.
Of course, there are a gazillion of homemade masks out there. These are just my favorite.
