NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique). How We Treated Allergies Naturally. Personal Testimony. Part 1

NAET stands for Nambudripad’s  (doctor’s name) Allergy Elimination Technique. This method is a completely natural and innovative way to treat allergies and although it sounds like hocus-pocus and doesn’t make a lot of sense to many, thousands claim that it works wonders. We tried it, because nothing else worked and it was so hard to see our child suffer. We were desperate and ready to try anything. We figured this method couldn’t hurt, because it was drug-free and therefore, worth a shot. Here is a story of how we found NAET and what it did for us.

I can’t help myself not to tell you about our experience with medical doctors first.

Preface:

Since my son Aidan was 1.5-months old he had severe eczema and rash all-over his tiny body. On his 2 month well-visit our pediatrician shook her head, said that there is that there was nothing they could do other than advise us to use 1% hydro-cortisone cream on his problematic spots (which happened to be his entire body), moisturize his skin as often as we could, give him Benadryl if he can’t sleep and prevent him from scratching.

We tried following the advice for 2 months, although after using cortisone for a few days (I used it only on a couple of really bad spots), I noticed that hair started growing on the areas where I put it (and no, it wasn’t his head, but his arms). His skin was also thinned in areas where we used the cream. We immediately stopped using it. We did everything else though. He wore footed sleepers, long-sleeved shirts and pants, so he wouldn’t scratch himself (he would scratch his head, neck and face anyway); he wore mittens to sleep, but he learned very quickly how to take them off and scratch himself until he bled. You don’t want to come to your child’s crib in the morning and find him lying on bloody sheets. Graphic and heartbreaking.

This is one of Aidan's "best" days.

This is one of Aidan's "best" days.

On our 4 month visit the doctor gave us a prescription for stronger percentage cortisone, disregarding my comment that he had side effects from the 1%. When we were leaving, she suggested that on our 6 months visit we do RAST blood tests to see if he is allergic to any of the foods I was eating (he was just on breast milk then). In the meantime she suggested I avoid dairy for a week and see if his eczema improves. I did and it didn’t. (Later I found out that it can take up to 2 weeks for milk proteins to leave my body). So we had two more months of scratching, bloody sheets and sleepless nights. In the meantime we gave him some herbal baths and they would help, but it was usually only temporary relief.

I was waiting impatiently for his 6 months visit. I wanted to do the tests.
