Organic Vs Non-Organic Shampoo

According to a recent study, hair is one of the first things that both men and women notice in the opposite sex. If this is the case, we better give it the best treatment.

Most Americans wash their hair every day, even though it is not recommended by doctors. The more you “lather, rinse, repeat” or in other words are exposed to a product with harmful ingredients, the more chances that you will get side effects from it. If you use non-organic shampoo, next time you shower read what the label says. Oh better go do it right now…

Synthetic foaming agents, parabens, petrochemicals… The list goes on.

Keep in mind that more than a half of what you put on your skin absorbs into your body. Do you want petrochemicals to run through your veins? I don’t.

Manufactures of big brands claim that the amount of chemicals they use in their products is small and therefore harmless. However, they do not say anything about prolonged use of these ingredients. If you do some research you will find out that some of the chemicals used in non-organic shampoos are, potentially, lethal, if absorbed in large amounts. I don’t know about you, but it makes me want to avoid synthetics at all costs.

If you are not convinced enough, a recent study discovered that sodium lauryl sulfate, which is present in 90% of non-organic commercial shampoos, causes eye damage in children and may cause cataracts. The same ingredient, scientists believe, is responsible for early hair loss in both men and women.

Organic shampoo is free of chemical pesticides and synthetic ingredients. Real organic shampoos are made of botanical matters and fruits. They are non toxic, biodegradable and usually vitamin enriched. So no parabens, petrochemicals and sodium lauryl sulfate.

Organic shampoos are not only harmless, but also beneficial for the scalp and hair. They infuse skin cells and hair follicles with natural oils, vitamins and minerals. This helps hair grow better and makes it look unbelievable soft and glossy.

On top of that organic shampoos’ smell is unbeatable. It makes you want to grab a bottle and buy it not caring about the costs.

Organic shampoos can be purchased in health stores, some supermarkets and, of course, online. I found this Avalon Organic Ylang Ylang Glistening Shampoo which is pretty cheap considering the quality.

Next time you want to pick up a shampoo, remember that functional is not always the best choice.
