Hormones, Antibiotics, rBGH or Why the EU Banned Beef Imports from the US.

Have you heard that according to a new American Academy of pediatrics study, American girls reach puberty much earlier now than they did in the past? Part of it is due to rising obesity rates in this country. Health experts suggest that another big part of the problem is due to consumption of dairy, which is packed with growth hormones and other chemical contaminants.

One of the worst non-organic dairy products is cow’s milk. To ensure that cows produce enough milk and meat, they are given generically engineered growth hormone (rBGH). It certainly increases profits for milk suppliers, but what about us, customers?

The FDA approved rBGH in 1993 despite much opposition from scientists and government officials. The approval was based on an unpublished study by Monsanto, and many still wonder how it was possible. rBGH is prohibited in most of the world. You can read more on this here:

Even though milk producers claim that the levels of hormones and antibiotics found in milk, are safe, early puberty and a growing number of health issues in this country makes us wonder. Scientists have also linked an increased number of twin births to the growth hormone in certain foods.

Cows which are treated with rBGH produce higher levels of IGF-1(insulin-growth factor 1), which have been linked to breast, colon, prostate and lung cancer.

By the way, the European Union is open about the dangers of hormones and antibiotics in meat and dairy. The use of hormones in cattle production is not allowed in Europe since 1988. Also, the European Union banned all imported beef from the US.

The FDA keeps assuring that everything is fine. Why? Well, when you realize how much money is involved, it becomes self-explanatory.

The information about multiple studies proving that milk and meat from heavily medicated cows is not safe, is not making it to the front pages of newspapers and magazines either. Sadly most likely for the same reason. Too much money involved. Too many people would go bankrupt.

Organic milk and beef come from cows which are fed organic feed and which are not given antibiotics or hormones. If you can’t afford it, stay away completely. There are a number of foods with lots of protein and calcium.

Scary, isn’t it? Sadly, most Americans have no clue how dangerous is what they are eating and they are too ignorant and cocky to do research.

    Ignorance is very dangerous.
