The Power of Water
If changing your lifestyle and improving health has been your New Year resolution for the last 7 years, and you just never got to it because of lack of time, money, partner or motivation, here is something easy for you. The easiest and the cheapest way to improve health is to increase your intake of pure water.
Many people underestimate the power of drinking fluids (and I don’t mean beer) and often forget that our bodies are made up of 75% of water. This fact by itself should give us the idea how vital water is for our health.
Doctors recommend that we drink on average 4-6 glasses of water a day (some say 6-8), but how many of us are actually doing it? I think if we were reminded of what pure water does for us more often, we would make drinking it a priority.
First of all, water keeps us hydrated. Dehydration may cause allergies, asthma, headaches and hypertension. Drinking water boosts our energy and stimulates our brain.
Water helps to get rid of the toxins from our body; it helps blood circulation and increases metabolism. When our metabolism is faster, we lose weight quicker. Also, drinking water before and in-between meals, fills us up faster and reduces appetite.
Drinking pure water has an unbelievable effect on how we look. It helps us stay in shape and clears our skin. Celebrities, who don’t like to admit that they had plastic surgery, swear that their biggest beauty secret is drinking lots of water. They say that hydration doesn’t only make them gorgeous, but makes them look younger. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try.
Drinking water from the sink is not recommended, because it contains many harmful substances and chemicals (such as hexavalent chromium cancer), which have been linked to cancer. If you don’t have a water filter at home, you can always buy pure spring water in bulk in stores. If you can afford it, buying mineral water is even a better choice because it will also fill you up with vitamins and minerals.
Are you having a glass of water yet?
